Environmental Design & Project Approach
We are highly experienced in ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) Investment. We work with you to find the best environmental practices through whole life carbon approaches, plus the ongoing human & nature outcomes.
Energy & Smart Design
We set target operation energy use intensity in line with RIBA / UKGBC guidance. A full operational energy models are carried out prior to development, to evaluate estimated energy demand. Working with our Energy consultant we can propose energy efficient heating, ventilation and lighting.
Through our design & planning this we aim to greatly reduce operational carbon and annual cost expenditure.
Materials & Circular Economy
A Whole Life Carbon Analysis is carried out during the design process, to identify largest carbon footprint materials or construction process. Alternative low carbon options to be tabulated with carbon cost, and discussed between design/ client team.
All our materials to be low-VOC and responsibly sourced. Blyth Group target embodied carbon line with RIBA guidance & Target % recycled content, following WRAP guidance.
Health, Wellbeing & Biophillic Design
We Target WELL Building Standard Certification of Health, Wellbeing & Biophillic principally driven design.
Working with our Landscape and Ecology Consultants we propose a polyphillic landscape to increase human connectivity through a composition of distinct areas of fauna, flora or natural materials. They also serve as passive wayfinding to help residents recognise their surroundings and navigate the sites.
The arrangement of social, activity and domestic spaces should be driven by studying the levels of sun exposure and shade due to the site and its surroundings.
Habitat & Bio-diversity
Working with the Landscape and Ecology Consultant we can propose a range of measures to promote Biodiversity on the site; such as native and feature species planting, water environments, soft or permeable landscaping and large trees.
Blyth Group targets biodiversity net gain through consultation with the landscape architect and their understanding of the ecology of the site.
